South Total Immersion English Institute (STIE) is a vocational English institute for adult students belonging to the South Education Group. STIE is located at Luogang district in Guangzhou. It may accommodate more than 1000 students at the same time with student’s dorm ties, teachers apartments and canteens, etc.
Our students are all adults who would like to improve their English communication skills for work, business or going abroad needs. We design our courses focusing more on practice and language using purpose but not on applying for test.
The whole English course are divided into 72 units from the 0 level to the mastery level. Every unit lesson could be done in a week. Students may study either the whole 72 weeks courses or at least one week for fun. The student may start their study from the most suitable unit and go to their desired target level according to their personal purpose.
Students achieving the top level are guaranteed to be able to read magazines, newspapers, understand the English movies, TV news, speak fluent English with foreign people freely. Entrance test is given to each student before putting him or her in the right level. By the end of each week Foreign teacher Director will test the students to ensure they have accomplished their target of this week. Students may upgrade, downgrade or even repeat their current unit depending on the test results.
6 levels are assigned to all the students. Each level has at least one or maybe more than one class with less than 12 students. One Chinese English teacher is responsible for one class guided by one foreign teacher who may be responsible for 3 or 5 classes.
Tellmemore, a famous English language software system, is used in our institute for training students for their basic listening, speaking, grammar training. A typical study of our students includes 3 hours online study in the laboratory, and 3 hours face to face lessons given by native English teachers.
English teacher Director will be responsible for all the course design based on tellmemore system and other teaching materials. Test system is also needed to be designed to monitor the teaching quality. Another important management part is recruiting English teachers and giving them proper training.
